The Lala Lajpatrai Memorial Trust was formed in 1959 on the eve of the Birth Centenary Celebration of the Late Lala Lajpatrai to work for the objectives which were so dear and near to Lalaji’s heart. Through Lalaji was interested in almost all the fields of activities contributing to the enrichment of national and social life, the cause of education was always uppermost in his mind. It was therefore desired by our late Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur shastri that the most fitting way to commemorate the memory of the great patriot was to start an institution of higher education.

The college which is affiliated to the University of Mumbai is situated at Hajiali on the road named after Lala Lajpatrai.

Apart from its own spacious building for curricular activities the college has a well-equipped library, a gymkhana, room for both boys and girls students and an enviable Gymnasium and Canteen, Health Centre with counseling facilities. The College organizes number of co-curricular and extracurricular activities for all round development of its students. As on today we have either inter colligate events to our credit.

The college started with one course B.Com in the year 1972. It added various self-financed courses as it was the need of the hour then. In the year 1998 the college started B.M.S course. It was the same year in which this course was introduced by University of Mumbai.

As on today apart from traditional course - B.Com, the college offers 6 self-financed under graduate courses named - Bachelor in Management Studies, Bachelor in Accounting and Finance, Bachelor in Mass Media, Bachelor in Banking and Insurance, Bachelor in Science (Information Technology) & Bachelor in Financial Management.

For Post graduate degree; the college offers M.Com (Management in Commerce) a two-year course in affiliation to Mumbai University. There are 2 specializations (M.Com in Management & M.Com in Accountancy) provided under this course -
